1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Little Lantern ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. If you accept these Terms on behalf of a minor, you represent that you have legal authority to do so and assume responsibility for the minor's use.
2. Description of Service
Little Lantern provides AI-powered personalized children's story generation. Our platform allows parents and caregivers to create custom stories featuring their children as characters.
3. User Accounts
To use our Service, you must:
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Keep your login credentials secure.
- Be at least 18 years old, or have verified parental/guardian consent.
- Use the Service only for lawful, appropriate purposes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Children's Privacy and Safety
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their children's use of the Service.
5. Content Ownership and Usage Rights
Your Content: Stories and other content you create belong to you.
Our License: You grant Little Lantern a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, and use your content solely for:
- Operating and providing the Service;
- Improving and maintaining the Service;
- Quality assurance and technical support; and
- Research and development in anonymized or aggregated form.
We will not sell or publicly share your stories without your consent.
6. Prohibited Uses
You may not use our Service to:
- Create sexual, harmful, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate content involving children.
- Engage in harassment, hate speech, or abusive behavior.
- Violate laws, regulations, or third-party rights (including intellectual property and privacy).
- Attempt to disrupt, hack, or gain unauthorized access to our systems.
- Upload or distribute malware, spyware, or harmful code.
7. Payment and Billing
- The Service operates on a credit-based system.
- By purchasing credits, you agree to the posted pricing and billing terms.
- Unless otherwise required by law, all purchases are non-refundable.
- Where applicable law grants statutory cancellation or refund rights (e.g., cooling-off periods), those rights will apply.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or fail to pay applicable fees. You may close your account at any time. Termination does not relieve you of payment obligations incurred prior to closure. Upon termination, we may deactivate or delete your account and content, subject to applicable law and our data retention practices.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Little Lantern and its affiliates shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim or (ii) USD $50.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 30 days before the new Terms take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina. Both parties consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.
